Thanks for voting in the poll and picking our winner for the coming week. Our theme for the week October 4 - 10 is
Ordinary object photographed from a unique perspective so that people are challenged to identify it
What can you come up with for this one? Words like, "You'll never know!", come to mind. :laugh
Enjoy yourself out there!
Remember, at any time you can submit an idea and it will be added to the Theme of The Week Brainstorm List (http://www.moviephotoforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448).

A low to the track shot just after ice was kicked up?
LunaTique
01-18-2010, 06:58 AM
Ding ding ding we have a winner insert smilie with arms raised.
Yes I shot it to show the ice shards that came flying up off the tires and would land on me like ice needles.
Since I am not shooting with a Telephoto lens I have to get closer than most. Fortunately I knew the corner marshall and he let me shoot fairly close to him and the track.

01-23-2010, 09:31 AM
Yes it does but alas they are not "Stars"
Maybe I should have said I did a lot of tweaking
and now that I look at it I feel badly and am not being fair to you all so I will just show you what they really are.
They are not really snow or rain nor are they really Stars but those Granular Ice rainbows that unfortunately I could not seem to capture but I did get some of the sparkle from them
http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/771228776_76Two-L.jpg
Has anyone here ever captured a picture of them?
EZE RIDER
01-23-2010, 09:41 AM
Very interesting!
I will take another stab at it and say they are holes in a tarp used to protect a delicate tree from the winter cold?

LT, I remember when making this photograph that the lake was afire with glittering color. There was much white, but there were certainly those little spots that looked like rainbows.
If you open this link: Light detail (http://www.moviephotoforums.com/photopost/showfull.php?photo=14416) and look down near the lower right hand corner, then you will see just a hint of color, but not the spectrum that we'd like to see.
LunaTique
01-23-2010, 05:48 PM
Then you know what I am talking about
They entire area looked like someone had sprinkled diamonds on the ground.
Lil I would crop that lower section and make it a picture of its own. it is magical
By the way Nice lake shot.
Diamond Lil
01-23-2010, 07:36 PM
I do get it LT. Now, I know there are filters that will help create the color, but what I'm not sure of is if a filter exists that would handle such small points of light without expanding the points and thereby ruin the whole thing.
Thanks for the comment. I like that shot to. :)
