I use Windows Movie Maker. It seems like it works well. Is there a good reason to switch to another editing software program?

Used the same program in Korea to make an "attention grabber" video clip of specific tactical and strategic operations. Worked really well! Everyone liked it, got the point across and didn't have to spend money on more "sophisticated" software. That being said, unless you're doing some commercial stuff on the high end level, don't switch. Keep using it.
I have tried most of the newer programs. I currently have ulead 11, pinnacle 11, premiere cs3 and of course windows movie maker and final cut in Mac. The biggest difference is the transitions and the type files you can make. If your working with any of the newer h.264 or MT2S codecs you really need something else besides windows movie maker. It would be nice if someone would standardize the codecs.
I am hoping that we can get an edge here on high resolution video, nothing looks better and the price is so affordable now that I'm sure it is the future of the net.

I have used the WMM for several things, including a little movie for my daughters softball team 2 years ago that I incorporated over 800 pictures on. After just very few pics, I realized that I was repeating the transition effects. I had to get really random or I found myself getting into a pattern and that made the movie look worse than it did being the first one I had ever made. LOL
Having more transitional effects would be awesome. Im not even sure what the codec part is, just know enough about it to know more transition is good! LOL
Adding the audio was a breeze I might add. :)

I use a pinnacle program sometimes but it takes forever to get a whole video done. It is good for certain things but when I want to put together some pictures and some video with some music and a few little graphics here and there I use Muvee maker, it does all the work for you.

Victor when you say takes forever do you mean to actually build the movie or just to assemble it all on the timeline? If it is to build I have found it to be somewhat processor intensive. It doesn't work bad on my machine but I am running a q9450 quad core with it running at 3.4 ghz but like I say when I check it is using a lot of cpu when it is working.

I meant it takes me a long time to edit in everything I like on the timeline (graphics, sound effects, music, fade ins and outs, etc.) It could be because with all the options I have a hard time making up my mind on what to put in it. With the Muvee Maker you just choose a video, choose some pictures, some music, and then click "Make Muvee" and the program does all the editing for you. You don't have much of a choice on what it does (there's a few options to make it your own) but it always does a good job IMO. Like I said I only use it when I try and put together a quick video. I've used the pinnacle studio for my kids bday's and stuff that is more important to me.
I'm going to have to get something going with my interenet soon so I can post up some video's for examples!

Have used a variety of video editing programs. MM is sufficent for many ride vids, but have come to appreciate the power and flexibility of Sony Vegas. There is a $99 version offering 90% of the power and this is my favorite.

I bought Pinnacle Plus yesterday and, so far, am VERY happy with it? AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) as a format is a bit new so finding an editing application which supports it is a bit of a crap-shoot. Pinnacle appears to be very versatile and works rather quickly to render an MT2S file to WMV, or pretty well whatever you want.
