My wife and I made a 12 hour round trip trek to pic our new puppy up on Saturday, so I thought it only fitting that it would also be the first time I really used my new Nikon D5000. For the most part I was using the preset modes on the camera since I really haven't had time to learn that much about the camera or photography in general, but I can tell that even with the factory preset modes it takes much better pics then my 7MP P&S.

Here are a few pics at the breeders house. There are a few pics of the mother which should be close to what our little girl will look like. There's also a pic of the mother with what remained of her litter and a few pics of the new little girl. As you can see my wife was very happy to finally get to hold her. :)

Me and the three kids the morning after we picked her up. I didn't get much sleep the first few nights since she howled all night long, but last night she slept through the night. I guess she's getting used to being here.

Mike!!!!!!!! They are all beautiful!!!!! And your wife does look very happy. As do you Daddy. :D

Sakari is a perfect addition to your family and the boys seem to agree.

The third and fourth pictures from the last are just way too much fun.

I like being about to shoot action shots like that. That is one thing my P&S definitely can't do. I'm sure this camera can take much better pictures then these, but even if not I think thses look better then anything I've ever taken. I may have to clean the bike and head out for a photo shoot. :D

Mike, you cannot complain for first pics! Heck, we've all made worse with cameras we know. Just look at Harley taking his break with Sakari playing with the ball...Excellent!

I cannot wait to see what you bring back from your photo trip.

It worked great, but I'm clumsy with it since I'm still not familiar with how it works.

i LOVE the third from the bottom..

I love that shot to. I just wish she was in the cetner of the image, but it's hard because she never sits still. :)

Great pics of the new pup. What kind of dog is she?????

She is an Alaskan Klee Kai which is basically a miniature Husky. She will only get to be around 15lbs.

I can't wait for her to grow a little. She's so small she fits through the bars on the gate we bought to keep her confined, so I have to barricade the gate to keep her in the room. LOL

I'll post some more pics later.

Has she been quieter?

Has she been quieter?

Yes thank goodness. She barks a little when I first lock her up, but then she goes to sleep and is quite all night.

Harley is fine with the puppy, but he won't sleep with her or even Bosco for that matter. The only time he sleeps in the same bed as Bosco is when he's in bed with us on the weekends. Then he'll make an exception and sleep with Bosco. :)

Isn't it nice to know that in his mind you trump Bosco?;)

Here's a pic I just took of Harley sharing his ottoman with Sakari. This is a rarity because he usually doesn't let anyone on his ottoman. This is right under my desk and he is usually there or on my lap when I'm on the forums.

Have you ever heard a Pug snore? They can wake the dead when they really get going, so it's Sakari that has to worry.

They have been like this for the last hour or so. LOL
