If you need any assistance either loading a file, resizing an image or what ever please post it here.
We also want to custom tailer the sizes needed for both movies and photos so if you have an opinion on needs to make things better please let us know. We can't fix it if we don't know it's a problem.

Video codecs. Could you recommend a good one? The one I first used really ruined my video (Divex). It came out all pixelated. The one I switched to is FF something or other works well.
Any advice?
It really depends on what your using for a machine and what the market it is. IMHO wmv still covers the biggest share of the market and has a good codec. I agree DIVX is one of the best codec's out there but still not supported by a large enough group.
Hello Max, nice to meet you ;) Great idea for a website.
I notice that .exe files are not uploadable (I didn't try though). I like to make slide shows that are converted to exe files so that they have full picture quality and there's no need for the user to have codecs or any other software to view them. By the way, the file size of my exe version versus an avi version of the same slide show is virtually identical but the avi looks like crap in comparison. Is there any chance you will/can make exe files uploadable?

Many people get nervous about exe files but I plan to add that along with other files. Keep suggestions coming and I will adjust things as we see what people are after.

It should have them and the size is set to 20mb so you can give it a try anytime you want. I hope at some point to have strong gallery software in place and really want to push most attachments to go that way for hosting.

Yes the gallery is setup to allow most formats, just let me know if there is a format you wish to load that I don't have setup.

I fixed the link for you, the code still doesn't come out correct for movies and I am working on that. You have to manually edit it to show the video tag. I'm actually looking for some software that will rip a frame of the video and present it instead of the video tag.

It's only the movies that do that and like I say that is some of the code I have been working on.

The two aren't linked on this site like they are on the other site, they share the same db but thats all. There is another link to your internal forum gallery here and you will find that in your user control panel.

Thanks Max.
I should add on this site the gallery is the purpose of the site and the forum is to support it while on 1130cc.com the forum is the purpose of the site and it's gallery is just to support the forum. Hosting images is the main function of this site and the forum simply makes a good way to control who is uploading images.

Spell check should work in the comments if you right click in the text area field. It should be an option in the drop down menu.

A humble suggestion. Seeing how the main purpose of this forum is for hosting images maybe the stats on the home page could show some of the numbers like total pics and total vids or both together. Thanks, this place is working very good so far!

Hi Max,
Is it out of the scope of this site to have a technical section wherein members could speak about the equipment they use, prefer, recommend, etc?
Best,
Lil
Excellent idea Lil, I will add some sections tonight.

Max, looking at Vic's thread regarding potential smaller cameras I saw your sample images from the G9. You stimulated this thought: How about enhancing the 'Tell Us What You Are Using' thread by suggesting everyone post up a few images taken in various lighting conditions and or scenes?
Excellent idea Lil, if people could see the images before they buy the camera it would really help. Plus knowing it wasn't some special setup shot that the camera companys use to sell them.

Exactly! Wonderful! Thanks again Max!
Here is another thought: How about an accessories question? I'm interested in a reliable small tripod and would love to hear what people have to say on the topic.

Hey Max, how about a Film section? I know with the new digital offerings that film is old news, but I think film is going to make a comeback as an art form.

Not a problem Mike, I guess I should just make it both digital and film sections so people won't get confused.

Should this be posted somehow in the thread?

Yes, it is Max, but what I was referring to specifically was how to do this, that or the other thing. I was first thinking of how to do things to your photos, but it may extend from there.

That's just a photoshop plugin...
Believe it or not.. There are actually techniques to do that with film. I think I have some around here somewhere I will try and scan in.
What's killing me is I can't remember how... :) I think it was using E6 film and processing in alternative chemistry.

Ever since yesterday I cannot load photos. This is the message I get after confirming intent to upload:
Problem running JPEGTRAN:
"/usr/bin/jpegtran" -copy none /var/www/virtuals/moviephotoforums.com/html/photopost/data/508/The_Vortex_V.jpg
Error Code: 1
The Vortex V is the name of an image I attempted to upload when the problem began.
OKAY, this is very strange. After posting this I went to my gallery to find that even thought I get this message every time I attempt to upload the photo has been uploading anyway. All that is, except for the one in the error message.
