Thank you MoviePhotoForums.com members, what a first month it has been. 55 members, 473 photo's and a dozen movies. This has started out much better then I had expected. But the best is yet to come, were just beginning what will be one of the premiere hosting sites on the net .


Tonight I purchased a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT w/18-55mm lens Silver.

We are going to have the very first MoviePhotoForums.com's very first real photo contest.

Rules
1. You must be a member of MoviePhotoForums.com with membership in good standing.

2. The photo can be of anything you like. It can be animal's, plants, sunrise photo's or just about anything you can think of. No adult content, nothing that even suggest anything sexual. This is a family site.

3. Creativity and technical skills will be judged equally.

4. No image processing other than crop and size. It must be as it came off the camera except for size.

5. There will be no voting until all images have been submitted. I will add a subsection in the forum and all votes will be done via the forum software to protect against bogus voting. There will also be a special area in the gallery for the images to be posted, any outside of that area will not be considered. I can move one if needed but none will be moved after the voting begins.This will be as honest as we can possibly make this.

6. Your photo must be accompanied with exact data from the image, subject ( who is it ), what type of light used, motivation if any (yes winning the camera is good motivation). Any special tricks used to obtain the effect you were looking to produce or show, etc.

7. Each person can submit two photo's, I offer this so you can pick two completely different subjects and themes and give you a greater chance of striking a cord with the masses.

8. As of July 1st when voting starts there will be no more entry's. Nothing will be allowed after the 1st of July. Any questions please ask now.

9. The winner will be whoever gets the most votes by the members on a single picture. You do not combine the votes of your two photo's the winner will be based of one single image.

10. I will USPS priority mail send the winner of this contest a brand new Canon Digital Rebel XT 8.1 megapixal digital camera with an 18-55mm lens.

The owner is required to post 24 photos with the new camera. :)

You might want to say No Nudes. A lot of people wont make the connection between sex and nudity it being so prevalent in fine art.

I will be building a separate area in the forum to post a place to vote. All votes when we start the vote will be done using forum polls and the votes will be public, this will I hope ensure that it is an honest vote.

Yes, all photos must be uploaded before the first vote can be cast. After that I'm afraid no one else will be allowed to enter the contest.

Everyone is not only welcome to play it is expected that all the members will take part in this. Everyone except myself is eligible to win. I posted a photo of buster but will remove it as the contest starts, I just put it there to help get some traffic to the folder.

That would be hard to protect against, I certainly hope that no one would do that.

Not yet RJ but everyone stands a chance in this. It is completely a member thing. Members vote, members submit the photos and members will decide who is the winner. So everyone stands a chance.

The prize is pretty damn cool I have to admit also. I wouldn't mind being able to win one of these myself. :)

Well the real prize camera did arrive today. I will take it out and take some pictures of it so you can see what someone is going to win. This thing is nice so all I know is you guys and gals need to be thinking about what your going to be taking pictures of to win this thing. :)

Very cool contest. I will be looking for subjects to take pics of. I may have taken one very nice photo yesterday in Canada...old school farm pic. I have to put it on the computer first to check it out. :D

Ok guys and gals, I just checked the gallery and there are only 16 pictures or so in there. Last I checked there were 55 members, minus Max, 54 members. At two submissions each there should be a hell of a lot more pictures in that gallery. I will be submitting mine in the next few days, but the deadline is fast approaching. Let's see who really wants that awesome camera! Come on people!!!! Make 'em count!

I posted in my gallery and then copied to the contest gallery. To post in a thread once you've uploaded simply copy the location, a right click is the simplest, (although Max has some cool options regarding sizing), and then paste the location into the dialog box that comes up when you click in the little yellow square with a mountain and sun in it on top of the Reply to Thread/Message box.

Open the image from the gallery and underneath it find a series of icons. One will let you edit the photo and information about it. You can load another image to take its place.

Same here Lil! I even helpeda friend create a local Photography group here in Albany on Meetup.com. We had our first meetup last week, and already have 31 members. It is nice range of beginners to professionals, as well as teachers of photography. It too has inspired me to get back out there and shoot again.

No, Lil changed one of hers before the contest starts today. The contest gallery should now be closed to uploads. When I get a chance today I'll try to verify that only two photos have been uploaded per member and then I'll set up the polls.
