Well Lil since you asked..
In back of the truck Note the big metal contraption on Left and the tail of two Nasa 747s.
They wouldn't let me at the flight line hmmph any way the metal doodad lifts the Space shuttle onto the back of these 747s.
Have to look close but you can see the rigging mounts on top of the planes..
Cool stuff and real nice people there too (if you stay away from the flight line)

Very very cool! I love NASA and military aircraft!!! These are great pictures. You must somehow get them to let you see a shuttle being mounted on the plane. :D

Mike, I am incredibly jealous. The Blackbird is my favorite plane of all time. I have never had the chance to see one in person tho. Very cool!

These were the 1st I have seen outside and the desert has taken its toll but still way cool.

That, sir, would be worth a trip to MI! Such a spectacular bird. My biggest regret is not seeing it fly. I heard it was quite the ordeal.

I would have to agree.
What I found interesting was that it was built out of Titanium during the cold war..
The CIA formed dummy corporations around the world to purchase the alloy from the Russians as it was the only place at the time (?) to get said alloy..
Slightly corrected I submit WIKI
