Photo contest!. Subject......mmmm......flowers. Color, your best crop to 1280X1024 (or reverse). NO 'SHOPPING other than the choice of crop. This is a "best eye" contest not computer skills. Make it a new shot, not one out of your stock.
All entries in by May 23 and then we can all vote for our favorite 3.
Winner gets a trinket from Utah.....not much motivation, I know.
What are ya..........chicken?

Honor system, I suppose... since how does one prove THEY took the photo?
Admittedly, I think the best pic I have taken, recently, is one I took with my POS camera phone.
Well I need to make a flower section then just to put these in. I'm game for this and it should be fun. Lord knows I could use a little fun right now.
THe new area is built, let the best person win.

Honor system to be sure. If someone needs to win a contest that bad then that is life.

Can they be doctored in any way? Photochopped?
edit: nevermind... When you mentioned 'SHOPPING - I was thinking buying, not 'CHOPPING :D

Mike, I've made some assumption that I would appreciate if you would verify.
First, is that it is one entry per person, true?
The other is that it must be a fresh photo taken in response to the contest call, true?
Thanks
Michael Hetrick
05-17-2008, 07:47 PM
I never thought of one only, but you might want to claim what you think is your best entry. And yeah, I think a fresh shot is what it is all about, how about y'all? I'm not a bananna dictator, I just thought I would throw something out there to get us going.
I'm holding mine until the last minute. I don't want anyone stealing my idea. Now all I have to do is think up my idea.
Diamond Lil

Thanks Mike. I wasn't thinking of you as boss man or anything. It was just my attempt at going along with your great idea.
I do think the fresh shot is a good idea.

Not to get to technical but it's kind of hard to compete with high end equipment. I have nothing more than a 3 megapixel pocket cam.
Maybe different catagories or am I just being a wet blanket?

A 3 mP camera will shoot just as good at 1280X1024 as a 20, right? I only have so many Utah trinkets and this is just to get something going on this forum. I think this is really all about the shot, no one will be using a Hassleblad.

Hey EZE, I have been insulted many a time by people telling me I must have good camera to take such great pics. Actually, I like think I have a great eye to find the subject to shoot.
Your point and shoot will take pictures just fine. Your eye on the other hand wll lead you to a subject that jumps out and makes a beautiful photo. Don't be worried. This is all in fun! As a person who does this as a hobby, I enjoy seeing other people's work, whether it be you with your 3mp poin and shoot or Max with his professional equipment. Its all about the love of taking pictures.
Best of luck!

Car show pics are TOUGH what with all the kids and people running around. Did I just infer that kids aren't people. I did, didn't I . Anyways, unless you can get in pre-show it is tough to have a nice, uncluttered shot.

Actually I prefer to think that this is more me. Those motorcycle forums bring out a certain stubborness in me that I don't really like. Mustang forums too. Must be testosterone issues. :D:D

Yes, and handling the ambient lighting and the shine of the cars and your own flash. If you don't understand your equipment it can be quite a task to get it right.
