I want to do a panorama of the city lights, but I am not sure I will be getting to it this week, so here is an archive shot.

Sorry I have not had any time to take new shots so here are some old ones of mine.
Sunrise from the top of Haleakala, Maui (10,000 ft).

Reflection of the sunset in the clouds across the street from my house. I really wanted a shot without power lines but sometimes you have to take what you get!

Great shots everyone.
I plan to submit some more but heres my contribution for now. You can see some anomoly in the sky portion of the pic, I reduced the quality too far for posting (15%) I'm going back to my normal 25%

The anomaly sort of works with it Ed. I like it.

That anomoly is gradient banding. It is a tough one to combat, but it is more common with 8-bit images as opposed to 16 bit images. The shots I post on the web here are 8-bit, but the ones I store in my archives and the ones I print are 16 bit images.
Here is something that might interest anyone having a problem with gradient banding.

On our way home last night after seeing the white whitetail we were struck with how pretty the view appeared. So I pulled
over to make a photo so you could see it too. The light that looks like lens flare is actually the reflection of a road sign illuminated by the car ahead.

The thing that is interesting is that we do not see the typical city building skyline in this thread. We see the skylines many of us live around. Good posts everyone.

The Salt Lake City and Las Vegas ones I posted always reminds me to take the time to look around. Even though the airplanes and all that "stuff" are in the foreground, it still reminds me to look at the majesty of the mountains. Same way with the view over the house in Vegas. I have problems with getting caught up in the world and not taking the time to appreciate it all.

Much more dramatic Mike. The dof is nice to as it brings me right into the hills and could almost leave me there. The colors are interesting. Did you boost blacks or something?
Kodatech
06-01-2010, 08:38 AM
I ALMOST always boost the black point in my landscape shots. I just think most of them look a bit better with a little bit of pure black in the shadows. :)

Here is a panoramic skyline shot of Hamilton, Ontario taken from the escarpment (the original shoreline of the great lakes) with the downtown to the left and the steel plants to the right. You can see Lake Ontario in the distance. This was a composite of eight shots joined using the program Calico. I know there has to be a way that I could do this so you can enlarge the image but I don't know how to do that.
