I know for some of you in the south, this time of year doesn't mean much change, but here in the Northeast, it means cooler nights, beautiful sights, and eventually freezing temps.

Pretty soon, it will be great, and then very depressing. It will be time to take amazing fall foliage shots, yet also time to put away the bikes for the season.

Rose and I took her FJR on an annual ride our friends do yesterday. The ride left Albany around 8 am (and 48 degrees) and headed up into Burlington, VT. It was a gorgeous ride, with some amazing roads and about 310 miles round trip. We took her bike, as I wouldn't have been able to walk afterwards had I had the V. She isn't ready to ride in groups or on highways yet, and for that I am very thankful. These guy ride pretty swiflty, with the average speed around 80 or so. I feel she would have been overwhelmed and the outcome might not have been pleasant. So for now, she rides with me.

As a photographer, this has to be my favorite time of year. The colors are amazing, and the photo opportunities are endless. I can't wait to start shooting them.

On another note, the Adirondack Balloon Fest was this weekend. I didn't get to make it because of the ride, but on our way home from VT, around sunset we saw the 35 or so balloons floating across the horizon. It was like something out of a movie.

I hope you all get some great shots this fall season. I can't wait to see your pictures!

Michael

Here in Texas we are coming into some of the best riding of the year. Saturday I got to get in two good rides, totaled about 250 miles on the bike. Nothing like getting to ride with close friends.

Mike, as you know we share the same climate. Fall through winter is my busiest time of year at work. I work time and a half from September through the end of December and time January through April. That allows me to work half time May through August. So as the weather gets more gloomy and cold my attentions are very focused upon work and my energy levels for much else are low. I do not become a work hermit, but let's just say I don't get out much. ;)

There's something about autumn causing one to pause, consider, and be grateful. Last weekend pointed the two wheels down a road ending in a high wilderness area, looking for signs of autumn. In a coniferous forest one must be content with shrubs declaring autumn's presence!

I gotta agree. As if the background wasn't amazing enough, that Duc is a beautiful bit of scenery as well.

Look at these replies from NY! I need to see the Chosen Spot, wander the Albany area, then see the Long Island coast!

Come on out. The colors are starting to change here. It is gorgeous. The air is getting that cool, crisp smell to it. Makes riding a little chilly, but we tough it out. I got spoiled on the FJR for a few months, now riding the V-rod again and not having a windshield is a bit on the breezy side!! Damn heated grips on the Cadillac of hers!!! Sheesh!
