LIL- ONE NEVER KNOWS WHAT ONE WILL STUMBLE UPON. This really gathers my interest .

I remember some years ago standing on the beach on St. George Island on the Gulf watching a storm out to sea. BEST light show I have EVER seen. Our Daughter will be relocating to the Gulf Coast this summer. So, trips are in the works. :D

I've got a back yard where this could work just fine.

You will remember to show us what you capture, won't you? ;)

Well I don't have one at this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if I did by summer. Trouble is, each camera will take a different one. :(

Well I guess. The D 700 doesn't have a wide angle lens, except for the old 28 programed into it. Anyone have an idea just HOW wide one would need to go for good lightning shots??? The D 80 of course has the 18/200 ---

This isn't a good example (2am in a truckstop) but shot with 10-20 UW Sigma with a cable release and tripod

Quickly.. landscape on tripod and threw caution to the wind with time exposure
Was a crop of this over-processed photo

So the bend is from the UW?

I wonder what your processing would look like if you did it today....

Heads up if you are considering something like this. Just because it says for 'NIKON', ( insert your camera), does not mean it will work with ALL-- The D 700, and D 80 will use TWO different units. I would think mine would be for the D 700 as it is FX, but it would be nice if it would work on both. Anyway, here is a link of interest to anyone who has an interest. I have a bid in on one for my D 700.

Lil, Sadly no- just haven't got around to it. However, if a camping trip to St. George Island, FL goes through for Christmas, I will have one before I leave home. Last time there, a light show was put on by GOD that would beat ANYTHING you ever saw. :)

I look forward to it J. R.! We had a storm here the other night that was relentless. More lightening than I'd seen in years. It made me think of your post as did an email exchange with our newest member. A while back I chatted with a fellow customer at the camera shop about his experience using one and he liked it very much.

Lil, did a 'revisit' to their web site. Looks to be updated and something new. :):camera:thumbsup

The storm I was speaking about was out in the gulf-- don't know the mileage, but it was really something to see. :)

Had I known how expensive this hobby was I would have become a hedge fund manager!

Out in the gulf. Now, that sounds intriguing. It must have been large.
