What's ailing ya? Food poisoning? Flu?
What's ailing ya? Food poisoning? Flu?
Hard to say, seems like food poisoning, bad abdominal pain and feeling like I have been hit by a truck. At least Amy and Rob have been good enough to bring needed supplies and RJ has been kind enough to offer free advice via phone.

Geezzz Max, after all you've been through there is no wonder something caught you. I hope you are taking that advice and taking care of you.
Well this makes day 6 for me. Can't believe how bad a person can feel at one time. Maybe just a little better today but really hard to say.

There is no doctor I trust more then RJ. He tried to talk me into doing the right thing but knows that I won't see someone I don't know in person. So as a friend he helps me knowing how bull headed I am.

Well then, Max, I do hope you are listening to RJ and heeding his advice. We all want you well!!!
Well then, Max, I do hope you are listening to RJ and heeding his advice. We all want you well!!!Lil you of all people will understand part of my reason. I know a local doctor would have insisted on hospital stay with fluids being injected. With four dogs and no one here to take care of them my animals weigh very heavy in my decision to do this at home so I could continue to take care of them. Not to mention in a way they took care of me always being there with love when needed. I am happy to report that I am drinking my first cup of coffee in almost a week this morning, still sick but on the road to recovery.

Lil food will have to be the next step. Getting even some decaf down was so nice.

One step at a time, one foot in front of the other, each day is a little better now. Just don't heal up from things the same as I did when I was 20. :)

I heard that stomach viruses can take up to 30 days to be completely gone but I'm with you on the recovery time being longer now with my age. I can remember getting hurt at 20, maybe pull a muscle or something and with one good nights rest the problem was gone. Now it's more like a week or two. Appetite is the best signal that I know that indicates healing.
Glad your feeling a little better.

Sorry to hear Max. Hope it starts to look up soon. Stomach viruses are the worst. As far as getting older and not recovering quickly, I am with you. I rode someone's bike home for them on Tuesday for 4-5 hours and my shoulders are still aching today. Seating position was a little different from my V.

Well were going to actually try a ride this morning, I made a pot of real coffee and need to take a borrowed tool back to a friend shortly which will give me my first chance to get back on the bike in a week. Still not 100% but close enough that I have to try.

THanks Lil, supposed to be 102 here today and sunny. I plan to have my ride done long before noon and take the afternoon easy and continue to recover.
Well I got my morning ride in and did a grocery run. After a week of being in bed that just about took all the energy I could muster right now. Even hard to find the energy to watch the forums right now, just can't believe how this has sucked the life right out of me.

Well today is the best day yet Lil. Actually got out with my brother to a family get together most of the day. Even more good news Max. That is real progress. You must be tired, but hopefully you ate a bit and will rest well tonight.
Tired doesn't begin to describe but I did eat two times yesterday and can tell that I am still feeling a little better all the time. Looking forward to Rob and Amy coming over and cooking out on the grill later today. It will be nice to have people in the house again, this place has been like a tomb for the last week especially. Really hard to get use to being by myself.
Oh and against RJ's advice I am drinking a cup of regular coffee, I know I'm going to pay for it later today but it is so damn good.

That must be good then because I have been living on fast food burgers now for the last month. :) I can't make myself cook for one person and I usually love to cook. I guess thats why it was so nice to have Amy and Rob come over to cook for. When it's just me they just don't make any size portion that works for a single person plus nothing really sounds good even though the kitchen is still stocked to the rafters with food because I had so many different things here so I could fix what ever sounded good to Jeannie. I guess the good thing is my grocery bill has been less for the last month then it was for half a week before. But the trade off is eating burgers out isn't cheap.

Yea Max, I know a thing or two about cooking for one and your so right. Nothing is packaged for 1 serving. I cook and then use those cheap tupperware containers to make up a dinner plate or two. Zap that sucker the next day and your in. One more thing is to expect waste. Often people wont buy fruits or vegatables because they arent cheap and you usually wind up throwing out some spoiled produce but if you dont buy it in the first place you will never eat the healthy stuff.
I'm glad your eating but fast food burgers arent exactly what I would call beef. You will gain 20lbs if you keep that up. STAY AWAY if you can. Stick to chinese for the take out. It's healthier and cheaper. I hope I'm not being to preachy but I'm just trying to look out for you.

Not at all and I know the fast foods are terrible the problem is even doing that I am only eating like once a day, it just doesn't even sound good to go get a burger. Today though I stopped at Wendy's and the garden salad was a nice change of pace. I see more of those in my future.

Nothing like that I am aware of around here but never really looked. UPSMAN and Danno are both coming in tonight from MO to spend a couple of days with me so having three people at the house will make it worthwhile to cook. I like this news Max. You should think about doing what we do; make extra so that you can put some immediately away in the freezer as smaller servings to cook for yourself later.

Max, hopefully your friends and you might see a super suppers while on the road.
Lil after the boys move on I'm going to see if there is one close by. It's actually been good to have Dan and Rob here because we have been eating regular and semi healthy food and not just junk. I can still feel a very slight effect of the stomach bug I had but probably 90% now and probably the worst part is you lose so much strength when your down for over a week, I was amazed how much I had lost. But Rob and Dan have been life savers, I needed badly to have something to look forward to and someone in the house to break the loneliness I had been going through since Jeannie passed. Now I dread them leaving but know they have to get back home.

Danno's head seems fine. :) I know he had the accident and all but seems as normal as he ever was.
Yes I will do more to the B in the future. I have several projects slated for it, downside is this time of the year in TX the heat is killer during the day in a garage with no ventilation so most of the garage projects will have to wait until Sept or so. Now that I am feeling better I am going to try to get back on some changes I wanted to make around the house. I was so busy taking care of Jeannie the last six months I let a lot of little projects slide because they took time away from her.

The plants are doing as good as any non green thumb person could expect. I got some aqua globes off ebay that water the plants much better with the correct amount and that has helped. SOme of them I think the heat is beating up since we have had a very hot summer so far.

THe ground here will dry up so bad that huge cracks form and the foundations of the houses will move enough to let them crack and separate. Usually only the very hottest part of the summer you have to do it.

Wow I thought you just left out the word garden as in foundation garden. I learned something too. I tell people that it's the same living in the North or the South. It's too cold in winter up North to do anything and it's too hot in the South during summer to do anything. 3/4's of the year it's equal. We have to care for the concrete during winter. The ice melting chemicals will destroy concrete.
The older I get the faster the seasons go.

I have a similar problem. It is like someone throws a light switch here. It goes from being bone cold to too hot in about a 2 week time span....then in November it goes the other way just as quick. Maybe 4 weeks total in a year that I can work in my garage comfortably.

07-22-2008, 12:24 PM
When my HVAC was changed out last year, I have them leave the blower behind. It makes for an EXCELLENT garage fan!
Kevin yesterday the thermometer in my garage said 114 and that was with a fan running. Typical temp in my attack this time of summer runs in the 150's and that heat soaks into the garage.
Because Jeannie's car was broken into behind my house last night I had to get out and fix my security lights that have been out for about a month now, damn is it hot outside right now. The biggest thing that upset me about the breakin on Jeannie's car is they took all of her cd's. THere is no way I can replace them, ever.
